Fertility

Diet plays an important role in fertility, as it can impact egg health, implantation and chances of a healthy pregnancy.

Healthy diet patterns that have features such as high fibre, high protein intake from non-meat sources and are low in saturated fat have been associated with increased fertility. We can help you to implement this advice in practical ways.

Diet can also impact sperm quality, so you don’t have to do all the heavy lifting by yourself. Changes should be made together if you have a partner.

Let us help you to optimise your diet to create a good environment for fertility, increasing the chances of successful conception and a healthy pregnancy.

Breastfeeding

Nutrition plays an important role in the breastfeeding journey, impacting on both your health and the quality of breast milk for your baby.

A well-balanced and nutrient-rich diet is essential to support the increased energy and nutrient demands during lactation.

We understand that it can be difficult to navigate nutrition and diet when you have a newborn and are sleep-deprived. We will work with you to find achievable ways to improve your diet to benefit you and your baby.

Supplements

Are you feeling confused by which supplements you need to take before, during and after pregnancy? It’s not a surprise, given the sheer number of different supplements on the market.

It is always best to get your nutrients from diet where possible, as unlike supplements, food contains a range of nutrients that are usually more easily absorbed by the body.

However there are circumstances where we recommend specific supplements, such as when you can’t eat certain foods, or you have deficiencies.

Supplements come in different strengths and with different ingredients and taking too much can be harmful. We can help you to figure out if a supplement is necessary and which one you should be taking.

After gestational diabetes (GDM)

Congratulations on getting through the GDM phase of your pregnancy.

You may have heard that if you have had GDM, you are at increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes in the future.

The good news is that diet and lifestyle can significantly reduce your risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Even better news is that you don’t have to be as strict with your diet as you did with GDM.

We can help you to implement sustainable diet and lifestyle changes that will benefit not only your future health, but that of your family.
