Pregnancy is an important time to be eating well in order to support your growing baby, but also so that you can cope with the extra pressure your body is under and feel your best.

In pregnancy, you have increased nutrient needs. Getting the right nutrition helps to optimise your baby’s growth and brain development, reduce the risk of pregnancy complications and improve your baby’s future health.

Nausea and vomiting
and
Hyperemesis Gravidarum “HG”

Having nausea and vomiting in pregnancy, or hyperemesis gravidarum, “HG”, is horrible.

We know it can be worrying when you are losing weight because of your symptoms or when all you can manage to keep down is coke and hot chips.

We understand the daily challenges of living with HG and can provide additional support. We are experienced at helping mothers with this condition to manage their symptoms and improve nutrition.

Pregnancy post-bariatric surgery

If you have previously had bariatric surgery and are pregnant or thinking about getting pregnant, then now is a great time to talk to us about your unique nutrition needs.

We can help you figure out how to get everything your growing baby needs, when you can’t necessarily fit that much food into the day.

We will also provide advice on multivitamin use, additional nutritional blood tests that should be completed and discuss weight gain expectations.

Gestational diabetes – also known as GDM

Finding out that you have GDM when you are on the home straight of your pregnancy can be a shock and disappointment.

Despite diet and exercise being fundamental to GDM management, we know that not everyone has access to a dietitian when they are diagnosed. Or they may only get to see a dietitian once.

We are experts at helping women to manage their GDM with diet and exercise. Although not everyone can avoid medication, we can help you to maximise your chances of managing GDM with diet.

Let us help empower you to better manage your GDM and still feel satisfied and enjoy your diet.

Weight gain

We see women who are worried about gaining too much weight in pregnancy and those who are struggling to gain enough.

Although there are some general recommendations about the amount of weight you should gain in pregnancy, everyone is individual and you may not fit perfectly within these recommendations.

That is why we focus on making sure you are nourishing yourself and your baby with the right nutrition. When you are doing this, the appropriate weight gain for you in your pregnancy, usually follows.
